Frosty mornings and north winds' chill have come once again, turning my thoughts to those little characters that always warm my heart. As most things evolve, so has my design. This year I've changed  to a shorter rounder body shape with the jointed head that I love. They still have a little touch of diamond dust around the eyes to give them a cool icy glitter...

I love black cats. They are one of my favourite things to make for Halloween. I've changed the design this year and decided to try using fur. These little kitties are made of German viscose and I love the texture! As always I've aged them with some coffee and cinnamon for that old world vintage look.

Halloween for me is all about black and orange, pumpkins and cornstalks, bats and black cats, and most of all... witches. These little wickety witches have jointed necks so they can turn their heads in any direction.

It seems like Halloween starts earlier and earlier every year. So I thought I'd join in the fun and make some pumpkin head dolls. With so many different prim styles out there, it's hard sometimes to create a look that's uniquely your own. Tall and skinny, short and chubby? Orange, black, white? They're all wonderful and add so much to Autumn and Halloween decor. I decided to add some of the elements that I've been using in my prim bears and came up with these little guys...

It's hard to believe that July is here already. I've been having so much fun making my new primitive, vintage style jointed bears that I've barely noticed the time go by. With elephants being so popular in the prim world, I just had to try one myself and I can see why - they are so fun to make...

My latest little prim bears are painted, sanded and stained for an ultra distressed look. A little cinnamon added to the stain gives them a wonderful "Teddy Graham" aroma...

My first jointed bear! It took a few tries to get the head I wanted, but finally after several attempts I managed to get the right shape. I decided to keep a primitive look for this one and think I'll make a few more before using mohair...

What do black cats and the fourth of July have in common? Black Cat fireworks of course! My latest little kitty is all about celebration with her fourth of July party hat and a string of Black Cat firecrackers.

After the rush of Halloween, Christmas and Easter, it's always nice to take a little time to play around with new ideas. I've been trying my hand at making jointed bears and it's been quite fun and not as difficult as I've always thought - although, I'm not so confident enough yet to use mohair. Experimenting with different types of joints is challenging and I've tried a few of my own invention that have worked out quite nicely, so I've added a few to my latest Americana dolls. Arms and heads are jointed and can be turned for more expressive poses.

There is nothing better on a cool winter morning than the aroma of freshly baked sweet buns - butter, cinnamon, raisins, toasted nuts, all drizzled with sticky icing. These wonderful confections are the inspiration for my 2017 Easter bunnies. They have all the sweetness without the calories...

Ever since my sister starting raising chickens, I've been fascinated with all the different varieties she has; Silkies, Frizzles, Show Girls, and of course Easter Eggers. She always has a bowl full of beautiful coloured eggs to display - pastel blue, pink, buff, olive green and dark brown speckled. These are the inspiration for my Easter Egger hens, each one holding a different colour egg from natures glorious palette...

The cold and dreary days of January seem to just drag on with no cheery holidays to lift the spirits. What better time to think ahead to February when everything hearts become all the rage. These little sweethearts will hopefully bring a smile and add some warmth to fend off the winter chill. My little calico kitty is ready to cuddle or perhaps a little puppy love with slobbery kisses...
